Gift of Generosity November 12, 2023

The Gift of Generosity:  What does a generous faith look like?  Our UU faith was born out of a movement of religious dissent and freedom of belief.  In 1945, Unitarian historian Earl Morse Wilbur wrote that one of the leading principles of our faith was a “generous tolerance of differing religious views and usages rather than insistence upon uniformity in doctrine, worship or polity.”  What exactly is a generous tolerance?  Is tolerance enough for Unitarian Universalists to truly be a generous faith? We will explore the meaning of generosity, tolerance, and the variety of religious beliefs that exist within our own congregation.
