Heritage:  The Black Experience in the United States  Please join us for this vital message from retired history professor Bobbie Boatwright Harris.  She will invite us into a conversation as she presents the Black American experience from slavery to the present.  Please come prepared to listen, learn, and be curious about new perspectives of our heritage.

Please join us for Social time after the service. Snack or drink contributions welcomed.

After service:

Creativity Workshop:  Heritage— Where did you come from? Who are you? Where are you going?  This month’s Creativity Workshop will use silhouette making (see below), paint, and collage to explore our identity in the context of our heritage.  Come with an open and explorative mind, and remember that it is the process that is more important than the end result (in other words, you do not have to be an “artist” in order to participate!).  All are welcome for this meaningful adventure as we continue the month’s theme of heritage!
(Silhouette:  “Possibly originating in the cave murals of Stone Age peoples, especially those in France and Spain, realistic representation appears to have been first achieved by tracing the outline of an object’s shadow, which was generally filled in with a flat colour.” — Encyclopedia Britannica)
