On December 31, New Year’s Eve, the 11:00 worship will revolve around the sermon “Keeping Watch.” It is natural for us to look back and hope for the future on the last day of the year, but for African Americans, Watch Night has meant much more. Rev. Lynne will talk about that tradition as well as the history of the holiday going back to the Moravians and the Methodists and what it can mean for us today as UUs.
On New Year’s Eve at 7:00 (after dark, but before the roads get dangerous), join Rev. Lynne for a candlelight renewal of our commitment to our seven principles, in the tradition of some of our Christian forbears, who renewed their commitment to their religion on that night. Weather permitting, we will have the short service out on the patio.
