Our Governance
Unitarian Universalism is a worldwide religion, but there is no church hierarchy or doctrinal leader. Each church or fellowship is self-governing and has the option of joining the national association. The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Lakeland (UUCL) is governed by a Board of Trustees. These committee volunteers are charged with setting the direction of our growth and development, and assuring that we meet our obligations as a non-profit organization.
The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Lakeland is a member of the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA), which is a voluntary association of autonomous local churches and fellowships. This national organization connects us to other UU organizations all over the country and provides guidance and resources both for our leadership and our spiritual and religious growth.
