Ponderings of our Spiritual Life Director 9-2-24

Happy September! I love September. Although the weather is still quite hot and steamy out there, September feels like an invitation to start anticipating Autumn. The Autumn Equinox is in a few weeks, the stores have out the Halloween decorations, and everything has turned pumpkin! The weather will cool down (it really will), and we will find plenty of invitations to get outside and enjoy the beauty that Florida has to offer.

September is also when we start to gather lots of excitement and energy for the coming church year. We kicked things off with a Social Justice meeting after Sunday’s service yesterday. I was thrilled to have a high level of engagement and interest in upcoming events: the dinner theater with Red Tent Initiative, attending Rose Dynasty events, the MLK parade in January, and the UUA’s Climate Justice Revival (which we will most likely hold in November). Additional exciting news is that Sheri has volunteered to help lead the Social Justice committee and she is very enthusiastic about it! What a blessing!

There was much creative energy in the room as we discussed the upcoming dinner theater event. We will be holding auditions for performances, putting together creative meals and mocktails, decorating, and coordinating fun kid’s activities. There will also be music and dancing and costumes at this event on October 19th! So much fun to be had, hope to see you there. I look forward to seeing you at other meetings and events this month. It is a joy to work, create, and be inspired by each one of you!
