Our Water Communion this past Sunday revealed some of who we are and what we are together. I read a Litany of Becoming by enfleshed. Here is some of that litany, a small part that I find most significant to the becoming of our community and most relevant to our Sunday experience:
“…There is no me without you.
We shape one another.
The Sacred that birthed us
weaves our lives together
so that we can only find ourselves through shared becoming…”
(Full piece at https://www.uua.org/worship/words/litany/litany-becoming)
The weaving that happened on Sunday as members and friends spoke was one of love, loss, joy, gratitude, and perseverance.
I heard that this pandemic has shifted our desires. I heard that we feel so grateful for the times and ways we can be together as a community, with friends and family. I heard that we have become more passionate about making justice happen in our communities, holding more compassion for one another, and also for renewing ourselves. I heard that we have become more deliberate about seeking out what we need during a time that has taken so much away from us. I heard that we have learned new ways to be accepting as we travel this unknown road but that it has deepened the ways that we love. I heard that we have a desire to stay connected to our memories. And lastly, I heard that we have supported each other’s learnings and helped each other find new ways when we feel lost.
We have found much joy together amidst the hardships and grief of this pandemic. We are so grateful to have one another and this community, for we have helped to shape one another.
Take some time this week to reflect on how your life has been shaped by another and/or by the community. Reflect on how you have contributed to the shaping of another and how your lives are woven together.
Take care and remember that you are a blessing.
