The practice of repair can look like a lot of things–from learning how to repair our personal relationships to social justice movements that demand the dismantling of oppressive systems. Nick shared with me a news story that he thought spoke to the practice of repair on many levels. It’s about the un-damming of the Klamath River in the Northwest US. It’s about repairing the Earth and supporting the fish that live in the river. It’s about repairing culture and the lives of the tribes that rely on that food source. It’s a good example of what Land Back can look like. And it’s a good example of organizing for repair (our theme this past Sunday)–that it takes time, working together, and a lot of effort, but this a story that brings hope and illustrates that success can be achieved. I will be taking this week off, and maybe next week, too (or at least partially). It will depend on my pain level and how that affects my mood. I appreciate the love, support, and grace that you all offer me while I heal and “repair” my body, and my mind, too. Breast cancer sucks. Pain is no fun. But I got this. Early detection is key and I feel fortunate that it was caught very early. As I used to say to my kindergarteners, “easy peasy lemon squeezie.” I guess that will be my mantra for the next couple of days to get me through the anxiety because it really is a minor surgical procedure! Feel free to check in with Adam over the next week to see how we’re doing. Thanks for all the hugs today. Love to you all!
