Welcome to August!
I had a wonderful July with my family in Door County, WI and Houston, TX. I am so grateful to have been able to spend quality time with my sister and her children. They live in Qatar and so it is quite an adventure during those few and far between times when we do all get to be together.
However, I am happy to be home and to gear up for another church year with all of you! Thanks to everyone who kept UUCL up and running during July. I would especially like to thank Petra Sussman for making sure that Sunday worship services continued throughout the month!
Looking ahead and starting in September, our monthly worship and programming themes from Soul Matters for 2023-24 will be centered around the work of the proposed changes to the UUA’s Article II. As stated on the Soul Matters website: Our 2023-24 Soul Matters themes were created with that proposal in mind, in the hope of supporting subscribing UU congregations as they do the sacred work of discerning which of our beloved UU values will best guide our faith as we engage today’s world.
These are some of the questions that will guide us: How do these values offer us both challenge and comfort? What might it mean to place them at the center of our living and loving? What promise do they hold for us individually as well as collectively?
Here is the list of our 2023-24 themes:
The Gift of…
September: Welcome
October: Heritage
November: Generosity
December: Mystery
January: Liberating Love
February: Justice & Equity
March: Transformation

Looking forward to another year of love and connection with you all!
