Ponderings of our Spiritual Life Director 2-9-22

It’s the community’s job to figure out how we can stretch into the so-called margins to broaden our understanding and the ability to be inclusive. Inclusivity is not ‘how do we make you a part of what we are?’ but ‘how do we become more of what you are?’

I love this quote because it is so much more than letting people in to become a part of our circle. It recognizes that as each person arrives and enters our community, we must stretch and shift and transform so that each person shapes the wholeness of who we are. If we are truly inclusive, then ach person- each of you- must be a part of our character, the shaping of our values, of the prophetic voice that seeks to bend the arc towards justice.

Imagine that when each person enters our circle that we have a new perspective to look through. We have a new tender heart to listen to, one that has had a completely different life journey than us. Imagine opening yourself up so wide that you can see the light of the divine not just through your own window, but of the window’s of others, too.

Imagine, and meditate on this idea as you actually view life through the windows of others all around the world: https://www.window-swap.com/Window
