December Book Discussion

Our next book discussion will be following potluck on December 11 (not first Sunday, as usual, because of the auction).  We will read and discuss The Open Space of Democracy by Terry Tempest Williams, the Utah environmental writer and advocate.  The book moves through the work of environmentalism and the importance of wilderness to create an eloquent image of the challenge and necessity of democracy and advocacy.  It received advanced praise from Jimmy Carter, Robert Redford, and Carl Pope, the former executive director of the Sierra Club. It is a perceptive guide for us as we struggle to come to terms with the our national reality.
